CNN confirms: Federal health officials have approved the sale of the so-called "morning-after" pill without a prescription.

WASHINGTON, Aug 24 (Reuters) - Barr Pharmaceuticals Inc. (BRL.N: Quote, Profile, Research) won U.S. approval to sell its Plan B "morning-after" contraceptive without a prescription to women 18 and older, the company said on Thursday.

Younger girls still need a prescription for Plan B, the company said in a statement. The Plan B pills may prevent pregnancy when taken within 72 hours of sexual intercourse.

FUCKING FINALLY
8:56
JESUS CHRIST
8:56
I've had to take the morning after pill 3 thimes
8:56
Er, times

hojo

8:57
it's a stupid idea to have to go through a doctor when it's obviously something that time is of the essence for

lesley

8:57
Yeah
8:58
Well, thank God for getthepill.com
8:58

hojo

8:58
how fast is that?
8:58
is that, like, monitored 24 hours?

lesley

8:58
The doctor e-mails you within the hour, usually
8:58
Yeah
8:59
And then you can go get the prescription filled

hojo

8:59
that fucking rocks

lesley

8:59
Fuck yeah it does

hojo

8:59
it's too bad those good people will be out of a job now

lesley

8:59
It's saved me more than once
8:59
I know!
8:59
Because they need a medal
9:00
The first two times I ever had sex with [my boyfriend], the condom broke
9:00
Which is why I'm on the pill now

hojo

9:01
i think being on the pill should be the default

lesley

9:02
I agree, but the problem with that is that it puts all of the responsibility on the woman
9:02
Which isn't really cool

hojo

9:02
i don't think it needs to be. i think men can still take an active roll
9:03
but i think it should be like: training bra, drug talk, sex/pill talk for your kid

ah see my werid worry is that it would be used that way - rather than be on BC from the start (if it works for you) it's kinda how i feel about abortion as BC - it's not and everytime you have sex kinda option but is is nice to have it readily avaible and those nice people will still be in biz b/c if your not 18 you can't have it with out a doc okaying it

I recieved this from someone else today...

Speaking of birth control

A procedure for men; like a vasectomy, but reversible
http://www.plannedparenthood.org/pp2/portal/files/portal/webzine/askdrcullins/adc-030804-vasclip.xml

I know there is also a new birth control device in the works for women that is the equivalent of getting their tubes tied, but it is also reversible. It blocks the tubes, instead of cutting them, and it is removable.
