for those not on facebook
Jan. 19th, 2009 01:37 pmwent to doc again b/c it was turning into House MD as the pain was killing me and making me bitchy,
I got my disgnosis, doc says since stopping the birth control got rid of 90% of the weridness and i am getting sleep he was comfortable saying i have fibromyalgia, he refered me to a pain clinic and gave me a month of lyrica to help with the pain
It's got some crappy ass side affects that i'm slugging thru and the pain was better in all but the "hot spots" i'm only at 1/3 the total dose they want me at so we see how this goes

Date: 2009-01-19 08:13 pm (UTC)What is necessary is to take your vitamins, eat well, get at LEAST 8 hours a night sleep, grab a nap during the day (even 20 minutes will help), and the biggest, most important thing is to REDUCE STRESS.
I'm learning that stress is the biggest killer of my body. I have to say "no" a lot more than I ever wanted to and I have to sit back and relax when I do go on outings. I can't "run" the land like I used to, I am now content to sit and "hold court" with my friends.
Relax. Think positive. Listen to your body and do what it says. If you need to eat, eat. If you need to sleep, do it. No apologies. If you need to take a night off and let the boys do the cooking and dishes, that's what happens. I know your sweetie knows about that.
Here is the National Fibromyalgia Association website. Sign up for their e-mail newsletter. I also became a member so I get their magazine, which has been a good thing as well, good stories, ideas, and such; as well as the latest in research.

Gentle hugs, sweetie. I'm glad it's not Lupus. At least that is a good blessing.

Date: 2009-01-20 12:54 pm (UTC)so far Lyrica is not causing too many side effects (which says not particularly good things about my brain, it's the 2nd cross use anti seizure med i take that works)
i don't want pain meds prescribed b/c i won't take them - i can't be doped up and work and be super women the lyrica is letting me get most of that back.
Plus the pain center is going to be working with me to help me no aggravate it when i'm at work and they will get me on an exercise program to reduce the ouches
i really don't believe in taking a pill to get better, so the lyrica is a stop gap till we can find a better way to manage the pain

Date: 2009-01-20 08:54 pm (UTC)BTW, if you still feel tired once things with the pain stabilizes, talk to the doc about getting a sleep study. We found out that, while I don't have sleep apnea, I do not sleep deeply due to the pain sensors and they put me on a CPAP and it works well, that and ear plugs so I don't hear things that shake me out of the light sleep.
I'm glad you are able to keep working and that the pain center is working with you.
