okay so i was thinking about Harry Potter the other day at work - yes i am an addict - anf i'm thining that he must 100% magickal family on both sides ..... i think his aunt is pissy abotu ti be cause she is a squib anyway i can't be the 1st person to think that but i just thought i would share any thoughts ?

Sorry I missed your call, was working on a cross stitch & didn't get up in time. You're definitly not the first person to suspect that Lily's parents were magical, but I dont know if Rowling has said anything for or against. I lean towards the Evans' being muggle, mostly because Petunia thinks Lily is a freak. Of course, Petunia could have just been an odd squib child. I'll have to look it up.

I think that James and his family are wizards from way back, but I do not think that Lilly's parents were magical. Maybe one of them was a Squib, leading to the fawning over of the magical child? Still, it seems pretty clear that Lilly and Petunia grew up in a non-wizarding house.

wasn't there something in the flashbacks in book 4 (i think) where someone was taunting lily for being a mud blood? (or was it 3??) point being, i thought her family was non-magickal... :)

There's really no explanation regarding the inheritance of the talent.
I'm sure that most of the indications are that Lilly was "unusual."
Now, we know that Petunia is a squib.
Nothing has been said about Harry's maternal grandparents, save that they were thrilled to have a daughter accepted to Hogwarts . . . (sounds like it wasn't new to them).
On the other hand, Hermione's parents are dentists.
If it's really important, it'll get revealed.
If not, it'll be left for fans to mull over for years.

i think her family was non magickal... in the order of the phoenix, harry is in one of snape's memories (where he see's his dad was an ass to snape) lilly sticks up for snape and he says something like i don't need your help mudblood...
