Eric Ballesteros: Hello Linds
Eric Ballesteros: how's it going?
Me: it's going
Eric Ballesteros: good deal
Eric Ballesteros: do you have a moment?
10:35 AM
Me: um on a call but almost done
Me: done what's up
Eric Ballesteros: cool
Eric Ballesteros: so, i wanted to ask you how you thought our last interview went
Me: it was okay .. it seemed like Matt was very nervous - and i wasn't really sure if i was answering the questions correctly
10:40 AM
Eric Ballesteros: well i thought you did well
Eric Ballesteros: i really liked your enthusiasm, i recommend bringing that to the table again
in terms of the structure of how to approach the answers to the questions, i'd say you should continue to discuss your leadership roles in the past
but this time around tie it more to how you can apply those skills & learned objectives to your role in Apple Direct
Me: okay - is there anything else that i should work on?
Eric Ballesteros: also, it's been an opportune few months for you at Apple Direct, so please be sure to discuss what areas you have been stepping up in
i also have two more points you can think about, and maybe structure some responses to:
1) What you plan to do to continue to develop yourself within Apple Direct
2) Ideas on how to improve Customer Satisfaction
Me: okay thanks !
Eric Ballesteros: sure thing
Eric Ballesteros: good luck! keep up the good work!!
Me: thank you ! have a good day
Edit:
AIM IM with Stacy Maxwell (aka my direct manager) .
10:59 AM
Stacy Maxwell: hey, linds
Me : hey
Stacy Maxwell: eric wanted me to follow up with you
Stacy Maxwell: did everything make sense?
Me : mostly
Stacy Maxwell: anything you still need clarification on?
Me : he suggested that i focus on how i plan to continue to develop in AD .. i'm just not sure , other than getting the PM score better, how to do that
11:05 AM
Stacy Maxwell: i think a good thing to say would be
Stacy Maxwell: the other aspects of our business you would be interested in?
11:10 AM
Stacy Maxwell: oh and mention that you are already canada/payment trained
Me : so, for instance, if i'm interested in getting into being part of the training team ....
Stacy Maxwell: PERFECT
Stacy Maxwell: that's what they want to know
Stacy Maxwell: that you want to stay here and want to move up

Date: 2006-01-26 11:11 pm (UTC)It looks like you have a lot of people who are really trying to help you answer the questions right. It looks like you have a second interview, too.
Stacy says it perfectly. Companies want to know that you want to 1) improve their bottom line and 2) stick around long enough to make a difference. They also like confidence, so play up the good things and accomplishments you have made. Talk about times where you have taken that extra step, or gone the extra mile. Does that make sense?
Just from the fact that they are taking the time to prep you for the second interview and the kinds of questions they are wanting you to prep for, sounds like Apple is a pretty decent company to work for. Most companies don't want to know what their employees think about their business and how to make it better, they just want loyalty.
Go for it and good luck!
