with two boys, do not make the same mistake that we did.

DO NOT BUY A LIGHT COLORED COUCH. unless of course this is going on a 8ft pedestal with no way the kids can get to it. and even then, food and markers fly magically.

seriously. and leather is wonderful with kids. so easily cleanable. not great with dogs, but something to look at.

also have you tried ikea. they make their couches with removable covers so that you can wash them. really really wonderful with kids. plus if they just get so bad or you hate the color, you can go buy a new cover instead of a new couch.

we have a jennifer convertable couch. and apparently we also have their cleaning thing. but it is such a pain to call up and actually schedule an appt. i just wish i could remove the covers and have them wash well without me having to worry that i'm going to mess them up.

good point

the couches at ikea were not comfortable (at least to me) but i like the couch cover idea, leather is not good for us b/c of the kitties(and they're cute little pointy toes, i think this is micro fiber so it should hold up okay but i will definatly see if there is another color or a cover

nothing is going to be comfy to you right now. but it will change once the baby is out. remember that. plus couches soften up a bit once you use them. our couch sucked until just recently.

also, look for something that can withstand you throwing it around. kids are tasmanian devils. they destroy and jump and mark up. you would be amazed at what our couch has endured.

I got my new couches at Ashley Furniture. Decent pricing, comfortable, soft fabric, cleanable, and withstands wear and tear.

Mine are micro-fiber, non-sectional, non-reclining. One's a full couch, the other a love seat. I got a matching free standing chaise and rocker recliner to suit all sitting needs. Also, a new coffee table. And the entire package was 1,200, and that includes having a warranty on the entire shebang for five years for repair and replacement any time I see fit.

You might look into them, they are also sold at outlet stores, and rent-to-own places.
